The Inheritance Session Four | Beth Moore

The Inheritance by Beth Moore ~ Session Four ~ Blog Study
Reflection:
1. Every generation is called to inherit their promised land, God is consistent.
As He is with Moses, He will be with Joshua, and He will be with you and me.
In Joshua 1:2-5, what did He promise Joshua that He has promised Moses?
2. God gives Joshua some direct instruction to ensure his success; in Joshua 1:6-9
what is commanded by God for Joshua to do so that no one will be able to stand up
against him?
3. Do you struggle with overwhelming fear at times? What do you find yourself doing with those fears?
How does God want us to handle our fears?

Homework:
This week memorize Joshua 1:8  "Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful."
{During your quite time this week meditate and journal on Psalm 16.}
Read it here in the NLT, but please use your own favorite version.
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
I said to the Lord, “You are my Master!
Every good thing I have comes from you.”
The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!
Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods.
I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods.
Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!
I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever!!

Scriptures to remember:
1 Chronicles 28:20 Be strong and courageous, and do the work.  Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm for God can be trusted to keep his promises!

Isaiah 33:6 The Lord is my sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom and knowledge. The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.

Genesis 15:6 Believe the Lord, and it will be counted to me as righteous because of my faith.

1 Corinthians 2:9 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.

The Inheritance Session Three | Beth Moore

The Inheritance by Beth Moore ~ Session Three ~ Blog Study
Reflection:
1. What struck you most out of this session?
2. Of the Three things that we inherit:
Presence, People and Property; which one do you feel you are most missing?
3. Part of the inheritance of property is inheriting a work to do. Think about how this works out in your life. What work has the Lord called you to do?

Homework:
In your prayer time ask the Lord to reveal to you if you have any possessive tendencies.
Seeing the work that you do as a blessing from God, return that blessing by praying a blessing on those you work with. Name them one by one and ask God's best for them, now and throughout your week.

Scriptures to remember:
Deut 15:4 There should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you.
Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go!
Psalm 2:7-8 Today I have become your Father, ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
Lev 20:24 You will possess their land, I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.  I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the nations.
Ps 16:3 These God chosen lives- all around - what splendid friends they make!

Happy 13th Birthday | Rodney + A Freebie

Rodney has heard the t-e-e-n-a-g-e-r word what seems like a million times this past week.
Is it going to his head?  You would guess so, but not a bit.  Rodney has the most level headed attitude.
So thankful for it too.
You've probably heard the saying "patience is a virtue."
Virtuous or not, what exactly is patience?
Patience is truly a talent we all need to master...however speaking in blunt terms.....definately
a talent that should be mastered in the... blessed to be teen ... years!

Patience is more than merely waiting for something to occur;  it's a waiting on top of the right heart attitude and a conscious belief that God is working out His purpose in our lives, no matter how the present circumstances.  I do suppose it's easier said than done, but developing patience is one of the best investments you'll ever make in your life!  Especially our teens.  Face it, the most reason our teens are in trouble is the fact they are bored and impatient with their current surroundings.

For sure not a mistake, Rodneys devotional reading on his birthday was....

Be glad for all God is planning for you.  Be patient in trouble, and always be prayful.  Romans 12:12 NLT

I choose patience....
I will overlook the
inconviences of the world.
Instead of cursing the one who takes my place,
I'll invite him to do so.
Rather than complain that the wait is too long,
I will thank God for a moment to pray.
-Max Lucado

And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.  Hebrews 6:15 NASB

foundation of life - built on a rock

All of us tend to build our lives on something or around something;
money..family..truth..love..insecurities..
and yes a lot of the time, even fear..
Many times I have buried my foundation under the soil where it is not seen by others,
but guess what.......
it's still there, grounding my life and actions.
Often my foundation is undependable and can send my life tumbling down after one bad storm.

This is my prayer I have grown with this year and hope you will be inspired to use it to.

Heavenly Father,
Teach me how to ground my life on YOU.
YOU are the author of my life and restorer of my broken-ness.
Help me to trust YOU alone.
To rely on YOU and seek YOU in every storm that comes across my path.
YOU are always there to take my hand and lead me across the rocky rivers and I thank YOU for the opportunity YOU so willingly give.
Lord, YOU are the only ROCK who will stand forever against any storm!!
With You and only with You, there is POWER to overcome.
Amen

In God We Still Trust

You place your hand on His Bible, when you swear to tell the Truth
His name is on our greatest Monuments, and all our money too,
And when we Pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand,
There is no separation, we're one Nation under Him.

Chorus:
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Now there are those among us, who want to push Him out,
And erase His name from everything, this country's all about,
From the Schoolhouse to the Courthouse, they're Silencing His Word,
Now it's time for all Believers, to make our Voices heard.

In God We Still Trust,
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Here in America
Here in America
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America

clean hands; pure heart

I have had my nose stuck between the pages of systematic theology, lexicons and interlinear Bible.
Just the way I tend to 'refresh' and 'refuel' after completing group studies.  Besides a surprise visit from my parents, we have been at the ball field!
Baseball and more baseball is all I can say!
And since a blog post isn't fun without photos here ya go..
This morning I studied Psalm 24 and thought I'd share an interesting question and answer verse that really stuck out.
Psalm 24:3-4
Who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart.
Isn't the Word just awesome?
The Lord knows our questions and I believe he always answers.
It's just my job to seek Him with everything I am and listen.
This verse is simple really..
To have clean hands, is to consider my actions.
To have a pure heart, is to be sincere and a renewed mind.

Heavenly Father,
I will choose to seek You with my whole heart so that I might recieve grace from You,
The One True God who loves the unworthy!
Amen

True love from God begins with delight in His holiness. -Jack Hayford

The Inheritance Session Two | Beth Moore

The Inheritance by Beth Moore ~ Session Two ~ Blog Study

Reflection:

1. What struck you most out of this session?

2. Read Galatians 3:1-9
You began your walk with God by faith, do you ever find it a struggle to continue to walk by faith?
I love how the message bible paraphrases these verses:
Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin?
Was it by working your heads off to please God?
Or was it by responding to God's Message to you?
Are you going to continue this craziness?

For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren't smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?

Did you go through this whole painful learning process for nothing?

It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this up!

Answer this question:

Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you?

Don't these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God. Is it not obvious to you that persons who put their trust in Christ (not persons who put their trust in the law!) are like Abraham: children of faith?

It was all laid out beforehand in Scripture that God would set things right with non-Jews by faith. Scripture anticipated this in the promise to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed in you." So those now who live by faith are blessed along with Abraham, who lived by faith—this is no new doctrine!

And that means that anyone who tries to live by his own effort, independent of God, is doomed to failure.

3. Do you believe that God wants to bless you and through you, to bless others?

Homework:
With either your time, words or money, find a way to generously, and if possible, anonymously bless someone.
scriptures to remember:
Genesis 12:1 Leave and go to the land I will show you.
Genesis 15:1 I am your shield, your very great reward.
John 1:16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.
Galatians 3:9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith!
Galatians 4:7 I am no longer a slave to sin- but a daughter and since I am His daughter, God has made me also an heiress.

stop and consider....

Creation,  simply stated..
~God~
Creator Himself such excellent and power surpasses my feeble comprehension.

Father,
Open my eyes to see your miracles that surround me.
May I not miss even one.
I do not want any of Your blessings to pass by without notice.
You, the almighty God of the universe, love me with an unfailing love.
May I walk daily in the light of the one who loves me.
Amen

What year has changed your life?

PART THREE:

"We have certain rights pertaining to inheritance as daughtership and heiress of God."
Girls we are Princesses of the one true King!
And heiress' according to promise.

{You, LORD, are all I want!
You are my CHOICE,
and you keep me safe.
You make my LIFE pleasant,
and my FUTURE is bright.}
Psalm 16:5-6 CEV

Small Group Discussion Questions
(this is not the listening guide)

1. What struck you most out of the first session?
2. Galatians 3:26-29  What makes you an heir?
By faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God. Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe—Christ's life, the fulfillment of God's original promise. In Christ's family there can be no division, you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ's family, then you are Abraham's famous "descendant," heirs according to the covenant promises.
3. Are you bored with life?  What does that mean about whether you are in the will of God?
(refers to page 3: if we are bored.)

Homework:
Memorize this week Psalm 16:6!

Scriptures to remember:
[Key verse for this study!] Ps 16:5-6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed; I have a beautiful inheritance.
Romans 8:9 I am controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit.
Galatians 3:26 I am a daughter of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:7 Since I am a child of God, I'm also an heiress, with complete access to the inheritance.
Eph 2:7 The Lord will show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward me in Christ Jesus.

thoughts of memorial day 2011

this memorial day was bittersweet for us.  years past in WA every memorial day we would take flowers to Jeffs gpa and gma grave.  i remember the first time i went with him and even after we married and started a family we'd do the same.  every year.  this year, as we start a new chapter in our lives.  we were able to take flowers to my gpa and gma's grave.  i had a granny pass in jan so very tender to speak of her.

we have friends who camp for memorial day, which may seem the thing to do for a long weekend.  we never have.  i cherish the moment i can take flowers and pay respect to our passed loved ones.  this year our children was able to hear new stories about their family history.
this is my great grandpa... i love how it reads... husb. of ....

my fav memorial day poem...
God Bless Our Native Land
by Frances E. W. Harper

God bless our native land,
Land of the newly free,
Oh may she ever stand
For truth and liberty.

God bless our native land,
Where sleep our kindred dead,
Let peace at thy command
Above their graves be shed.

God help our native land,
Bring surcease to her strife,
And shower from thy hand
A more abundant life.

God bless our native land,
Her homes and children bless,
Oh may she ever stand
For truth and righteousness.
