Week Four Homework | Covenant 4-1 and 4-2 | Kay Arthur

O Lord God, What? How?

A deeper look into...Gen 15.
The account of the calling of Abraham is amazing-amazing because the God of the universe chooses us despite or frailities and then exalts Himself through those weaknesses. As a result, people wonder not at us but at the awesome greatness of our God.

Moving on to..Day 2

Walking through the Pieces
Galatians 3:6-9 Consider Abraham, he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Galatians 3:16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.

Gen 15
a bit more detail about the walking through the pieces.....the covenant was made between God and Abram. What happened to the animals? Abram cut them into (standing up from head to tail in half and laid them opposite one another.)
Abram fell into a deep sleep, God told him 'Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated 400 yrs.
But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves and they will come out with great possessions. a smoking oven and a flaming torch passing through the pieces ... perhaps in a figure 8 motion, to show everlasting.....this bound the covenant.
You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.
In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."
When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces.
On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram.

What a eye opening study today girls.
