Week Three Homework | Covenant 3-4 and 3-5 | Kay Arthur

Sovereign Administrator

The goal this week is to help us understand just how secure we are when we are in covenant with God, the gravity of the covenants, and how God is the sovereign administrator over all covenants. We will discover what Mizpah really means!

Reading in 2 Sam 21 and Joshua 9.
What happened when the covenant was broken?
Famine in the land. 7 of Sauls sons were handed over to the Gibeonites, they were hanged and exposed their bodies before the Lord.
The Lord refers to Saul and his bloody house.
Because of the blood covenant that they were responsible for as Israelites.
Saul broke the oath, the covenant.
2 Sam 21 comes to a close with David honoring the covenant made by Joshua and the Gibeonites and dealing with Sauls transgressions of it, vs. 14 says that David buried the bones of Saul, Jonathan and the hanged, Then the Lord was moved by prayer for the land.
And what does this tell us about God? His covenants are bound forever and God revenges those that are broken!

Kay closes this day of homework with .....Don't you just absolutely stand in awe at the incredible way God weaves truth through His word!
Ok, Let's see what our homework has in store for us in day 5.

At the Table
Matthew 26
vs. 31-32 Cutting Covenant....Be struck down...Strike down the Shepard the flock will scatter.

A person should examine himself before taking communion. 1 Cor 11:28

If you partake in an unworthy manner, you are guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. Reason girls is to proclaim the Lords death, until He returns.

Note Card Verse:
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Bottom line girls: To keep on, keeping on, until Faith becomes Sight, keep on, keeping on!
Hang tight were going to walk into death that brings forgiveness next week!
Keep pressing on girls, ~Melanie
